-A good leader will look at how a decision will affect him and others in the long term not the short term.
-A good leader steps up to a challenge
-A good leader can is able to hold his ground and not be bias when making a decision
-A good leader knows will go all the way when doing something
I good leader will always make choices that will benefit his followers in the long term, and he or she will try his or her best to do so on the long term as well but he or she might not always be successful in doing so. A leader will be able to guide his or her followers on a path, but a GOOD leader will guide them on the right path. This is also true if the leader is guiding them on the wrong path unknowingly, as he thinks he is doing the right thing. The fact that he is able to motivate people to follow him is what makes him a good leader.

A good leader also believes in himself and his groups members and trusts that the task given to each of them can be accomplished in time and with good quality. A good leader is also an excellent listener. He will listen to your problems when you tell them to him and will help you think of ideas on how to solve those problems. He will also work out a compromise with you should you approach him with a reason about not being able to complete a task. Finally, a good leader will be honest and keep to his promises and not go back on them.

A good leader would categorize the problems he has under not urgent and not important, not urgent but important, urgent but not important and urgent and important. He will then split up the urgent things that have to be done with his group members with reasons on why the task must be completed and give them a deadline to complete the task. Character and traits in leadership:
Leadership are in everyone of us, but sometimes we are leaders, sometimes we are not. If we show behaviour that are wrong, we are not leading others in the right way.
The first trait of a leader is building excellence, by first being a leader of good and honourable character. A leader also has to be honest, competent, forward-looking, inspiring, fair-minded, courageous, straightforward and imaginative. Leaders have also have to have strong characters, showing energy, determination, self-discipline and willpower. This will attract followers, because they feel that he/she can be trusted.
According to a survey by Korn-Ferry International, respondents said they wanted leaders who are ethical and have a strong vision of the future. A leader has to build his/her character starting by firming up their beliefs, values, skills and traits.
Honesty, integrity and self-respect are important traits too. If a leader does not respect his/her self and lies, would followers still want to follow?
A good leader manages crisis under stressful situations well. Stress, if in right amounts, is a good thing, helping us to stretch our minds more, and get more things done. Although it might be a little challenge for a leader, he/she should treat it as a challenge and opportunity to learn more and be better and handling situations like these in the future.

for me, the traits of a leader would be: a sharp wit a silver tongue and a proactive attitude a leader would need these traits because of the rising difficulty of the crisis may call for a much quicker brain to process and lead, whilst needing a silver tongue to coerce and convey the message to his members, or if that does not work then his proactive attitude would finish it. i think that a good leader would be able to recruit and properly use his team members' abilities to its fullest, while recognising how to rid the group of freeloaders/ dead weight. |
